Pine Lake

Pine Lake is a small lake in Tasmania's Central Plateau Conservation Area.

The lake is reached along a 400 metre board-walk that takes visitors through a number of unique plant communities that surround these alpines lakes.

The Pencil Pines growing around the lake give Pine Lake it's name. The trees are conifers but they aren't pine trees. They are extremely slow growing and the oldest ones here are around 1,000 years old.

There are lots of other interesting plants growing around the lake and all have had to adopt to the harsh climate.
