Tiger Quoll

Tiger Quolls have red or brown fur with white spots and a spotted tail. They have have lighter fur underneath and the spots are paler. Their snouts are pointed , their noses pink and they have sharp teeth.

The Tiger Quoll is the largest of the quolls and the largest carnivorous marsupial in mainland Australia.

Once common across south eastern Australia, Tiger Quolls are now rare. They live in a forest habitats ranging from open woodland to rainforest. Their dens are in hollow logs, hollow trees and rock crevices.

This is the only time I have seen a Tiger Quoll in the wild - an unexpected encounter and very special.
