Comments:

The River Caves Canyon was formed by Budgary Creek eroding though the softer sandstone.

There is an easy walk through this pretty canyon.  The walk doesn't require abseiling or swimming but it is necessary to wade through water that is usually only knee deep.

Although it is quite dark in the canyon, sunlight filtering though the slots in the roof lights up the walls and shows some of the rich colours in the sandstone and shows off some of the amazing canyon rock formations.

The canyon is usually approached from the downstream end although there is no reason it can't be done the other way.

Park at the barrier on the Mt Cameron Fire trail.

Walk past the barrier for about 300 metres down to a saddle (Natural Bridge).  Turn left and follow the obvious track down into the gully until you reach Budgary Creek.

Turn left and follow the creek upstream through the River Caves.  There are 2 distinct canyon sections.

After leaving the canyon follow the main creek for another 100 metres, looking for a ramp up to the left through a break in the cliffs. At the top of the cliffs, follow the obvious track back to the Fire Trail.
