In late 1929 a large portion of the cliff face near Malaita Point, known as Dog Face Rock fell into the Jamison Valley.
The area underneath the Landslide had previously been mined for coal & at one stage a cable tramway carried oil shale from mines near Mt Solitary & the Glen Shale Mine, under Dog Face Rock & Malaita Point, to an incline cable haulage. The Incline carried the ore to the top of the cliffs & on to the railway..
Over a period of time the Incline was replaced with equipment that could carry tourists. These days it operates as the Scenic Railway.
