Sometimes the difference between the bright parts of an image and the dark parts are just too much to be captured in a single expoure.
The extremes of bright & dark can be dealt with using HDR software to post process a series photos with different exposure settings.
HDR Photography works best with the camera mounted on a tripod.
Setup time means that I can only use this technique when I'm walking solo. It isn't suitable for bushwalks with groups of people.
As a result I don't use get to use it too often.
