Family:  Myrtaceae

Description:  The Red Honey Myrtle is an evergreen spreading shrub with dull red flowers shaped like a bottlebrush

Flowering Period:  November through to February

Distribution:  In the lower mountains the Red Honey Myrtle grows in damp areas of woodland, usually in sandy soil.  At higher altitudes it prefers areas where water is seeping.

Sightings:  

  • Mt Warrigal - about 880 metres on a steep slope facing east
  • Upper Breakfast Creek
