Genus:  Pseudechis

Description:  The Red-bellied Snake is a large glossy black elapid snake with a distinct red to pink belly.  The red markings extend up the sides of the body

Distribution:  Found along the along the east coast and adjacent inland, usually associated with moist areas like swamps, creeks and forests.  

Comments:  The Red-bellied Black Sanke is dangerously venemous and should be left alone.   It feeds on frogs, mice, lizards and other small animals.
