Genus: Hoplocephalus Description: The Broad-headed snake is black with narrow bands of yellow, a distinctive pattern. If annoyed the Broad-headed snake will defend itself, striking repeatedly. They are potentially dangerous. Distribution: The Broad-headed Snake is found from Sydney to Nowra & inland to the Blue Mountains, usually on sandstone outcrops. They are considered endangered. Comments: Broad-headed snakes climb rocks as well as trees. Feeds on lizards, usually skinks & geckos. Shelters under rock slabs & in sandstone hollows. Sightings:
