Dingo Gap Gallery | Quartz Roasting Pits at Tambaroora

The Quartz Roasting Pits at Tambaroora were built in 1855 by the Colonial Gold Mining Company. Tambaroora is 3 kilometres north of Hill End.

The site is one of the first in Australia to process gold bearing ore. The Roasting Pits were used to prepare the quartz for the stampers where the gold was extracted.
