Dunphy's Gangerang and Kowmung Maps and the Unirover Gundungera Map all show ruins of a clay house located near Kanangra Walls.
The remains are not shown on the old or the new LPI Kanangra topographical maps.
Very little is left to even indicate a building once stood on the site.
The most obvious sign are the rows of raised dirt, organised in rectangular patterns. Here and there you can see rocks used as foundations or wall footings. The rocks are dug into the ground and arranged to have a straight front edge and a level surface.
It looks like a large area of land around the building had been cleared.
Was this a pioneer cattle farm near the Oberon Stock Route or did the building serve some other purpose, now long forgotten?
Are these the remains of the clay building ruins? I think so, although more ruins may be hidden in the scrub. Only a detailed archaeological survey could tell for sure.
