Track Notes:

Comments:

The coal mine under Black Billy Head probably operated in the early 1900s.

Fill behind a stone retaining wall provided a level working area outside the adits.  Coal was tipped into a chute to roll down the hill to the roadway where it could be loaded for transport.

Coal was brought from the adits via skips to a tipping platform.  Skips would be placed on the platform, locked in place & emptied into the chute.

The roadway, the retaining wall, the tipping platform & a hinge, a water tank as well as much of the chute can still be seen at the mine site.
